In the Netherlands, iGaming operators have been banned from sports sponsorship
On July 1, a complete ban on sponsorship of sporting events, teams and athletes by the gambling sector will come into effect in the country. Dutch gambling regulator KSA has sent out an official warning to all operators about the increased controls.
✅As of July 1, 2025, sponsorship agreements relating to athletes, teams, competitions, jerseys and other promotional materials will no longer be permitted under Dutch law.
✅This marks the end of a two-year transition period following a broader ban from July 1, 2023 on non-targeted gambling advertising in public places and publicly accessible buildings.
The regulation aims to reduce the visibility of gambling advertising among vulnerable groups, including young people.
