📊🇳🇱 GGR from gambling in the Netherlands reached €1.47 billion for 2024
The Dutch gambling regulator Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) published (https://sbcnews.co.uk/sportsbook/2025/04/14/ksa-responsible-gambling/) a monitoring report for spring 2025 showing the positive impact of the revised responsible gambling policy. According to the document, player protection measures introduced in October 2024 have significantly reduced the number of major losses.
Key data from the report:
🔴 Gross Gaming Result (GGR) for 2024 was €1.47 billion, showing a 6% increase compared to 2023 (€1.39 billion)
🔴 GGR was 10% lower in the first half of 2024, than in the second – the difference is explained by the European Football Championship in June
🔴 Players 18-23 years old on average lose €48 per month compared to €148 for players over 24 years old
🔴 The average losses of the group over 24 years old decreased from €160 in the first half of the year to €148 in the second
🔴 Before October 2024, 4% of accounts lost more than €1000 per month, after October only 1.2%
🔴 Young players prefer sports betting: 29% of their spending is in this segment (22% in the older group)
🔴 The number of active accounts rose from 1.1 million in the first half of the year to 1.19 million in the second
🔴 Around 788k accounts were active with legal operators in the second half of the year (5.4% of the adult population)
🔴 Measures introduced in October increased the number of new accounts in the last quarter of 2024 thanks to the possibility of having multiple accounts
