Alberta has approved legislation to launch a commercial iGaming marketplace

Bill 48 (iGaming Alberta Act), introduced by Minister Dale Nally, passed third reading without amendment and now awaits only Royal Assent, the final step before the legislation comes into force.

Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) will regulate the market. Meanwhile, state-owned operator Play Alberta will continue to operate alongside private operators, and a separate agency, the Alberta iGaming Corporation, will be created to oversee it.

📌 Details on licensing, taxes and fees will be released at a later date, with the market expected to launch in the second quarter of 2026.
